Lost in Translation: Too many children falling through the cracks after leaving state education

This recent report by the Children’s Commissioner focuses on the destinations of pupils leaving the state education system. Based on research carried out across eight local authorities, the report’s findings include data relating to the number of children entering home education, parental views and concerns about support for children with SEND, and the correlation between leavers and previous patterns of poor attendance. The report’s findings also highlighted that the children who lived in the most disadvantaged areas were much more likely to be missing education.
