The Child Psychotherapy Council (CPC) is an organisation for the accreditation and regulation of child and adolescent psychotherapists.  CPC is a registered charity no. 1196150 and company registered in England and Wales no. CE026897.

CPC is registered as a data controller with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO). Registration number ZB304705.

CPC only collects personal data to fulfil its functions as a membership organisation and a professional association. This privacy policy will explain how CPC uses the personal data we collect from you when you use our website.

What data do we collect?

Membership information

As part of the application process to become a CPC member we request certain types of information so that we are able to process the application. This personal data is retained and processed in accordance with CPC’s GDPR policy. CPC may also use your information to contact your organisational member to confirm that you are still a member and if the contact details CPC has for you are still correct.

Following a successful membership application, CPC process annual membership and circulate renewal notices. In order to process a member’s renewal, bank details are required. These are shared with a third-party to process the card payments and direct debit payments.

Organisational members

For any of CPC’s organisational members the organisation’s name and contact details are listed on the CPC website. This information is obtained when an organisation as part of the application process and is updated via the 6 yearly reviews. This information is used for the purposes of informing CPC members and the public of where to go if they want to contact the organisation. In addition, we use the data to contact the organisation regarding their 6 yearly reviews and membership queries.

Volunteers

We may use the personal information we collect from you to process volunteer applications and to administer all the aspects of the volunteering role and activities.

Committee members and the Board of Trustees

When individuals apply to work or take up a position at CPC, the information collected is used only to process the application.

Search engine

Search queries and results are logged anonymously to help CPC improve its website and search functionality, no user-specific data is collected by either CPC or any other third party.

People who use CPC online services

CPC offer various services to its members and the public, including those services set out below. In order to provide these services, personal data is collected from participants.

Public

For members of the public, CPC operate a search function on the website to allow them to find an appropriate practitioner. This can also be carried out via a telephone enquiry.

CPC also occasionally carries out public surveys and public online promotions and organises events onto which the public may book a place.

CPC has a presence on social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn

Members

CPC members have access to the members area of the website on which there is a members’ forum.

Online promotions

For events CPC sometimes use speakers’ names and photos to promote events – this is usually done with their approval but on occasions information is taken from the speakers’ website. Speakers are contacted prior to CPC using the information and inform them of this. 

Telephone calls

When we receive a call from or about a CPC member, CPC may retain a record of the call in the relevant section of the member’s database record.

Email correspondence

CPC retains records of emails from or about CPC members in the relevant section of the member’s database record.

Marketing

Your personal information may be used to contact you with newsletters, marketing or promotional material. Content may be gathered in the form of film or photography for use in our PR and marketing activity. Participants will have the opportunity to opt out of such use.

Complaints about CPC

All complaints about CPC are treated seriously and managed in accordance with CPC’s complaints policy. In order to process a complaint, it is necessary to obtain certain details, which will usually include some personal information. CPC will only use the personal information collected to process the complaint.
